England World Cup Poster Launches , April 22nd 2010
Our Anti-Racist School Competiton (England) 2010 Awards Ceremony was held at Wembley Stadium, in conjunction with the first launch of our England World Cup Poster!
More about this event...
Thanks to support from the Football Association and the 2018 World Cup bid team, Show Racism the Red Card held our School Competition Awards Ceremony at Wembley Stadium. This event marked the first of our England poster launches at each of the England 2018 World Cup bid host cities.
Winners of the competition were invited to the ceremony at Wembley for a truly memorable day, receiving prizes donated by football clubs and other companies and presented by current and former professional footballers. The list of winners has now been announced on our website. You can view the event programme here. The event at Wembley was fantastic and featured top entertainment for the guests including an inflatable football game courtesy of Automation 4.
SRtRC will be printing 1,000,000 copies of the England squad poster and we plan to launch it in time for the World Cup in the 2018 bid host cities between April and June. The event at Wembley will mark the first of these events, with others at:
27th April - Bristol, Ashton Gate
4th May - Sheffield, Hillsborough
5th May - Liverpool, Anfield
6th May - Nottingham, City Ground
13th May - Leeds, Elland Road
24th May - Manchester, City of Manchester Stadium
25th May - London, White Hart Lane
28th May - Birmingham, Villa Park
8th June - Newcastle/Gateshead, St James's Park
The campaign aims to enlist the support of current and former England internationals at these events, which will carry an anti-racist message to over 1500 young people. SRtRC hope to engage enough current and former England players to total 2018 caps in support of the World Cup bid.
Former England international, Luther Blissett, has recently joined our staff team, which includes ex-professional footballers: Gary Bennett, John Anderson, Curtis Fleming, Dean Gordon, Leroy Rosenior, Christian Roberts, Paul Mortimer and Olivier Bernard. Luther will help coordinate the England internationals to attend the events, many of which are patrons of our charity.
Brian Deane has agreed to be the Ambassador for our Leeds event, John Beresford for Newcastle, Russell Osman for Bristol and Bryan Robson for the Manchester event.
