Earl Barrett Biography

Earl Barrett initially became involved with the campaign whilst playing for Sheffield Wednesday in 1998. He is a former England international who also played right-back for Manchester City, Chester City, Oldham Athletic, Aston Villa, Everton and Sheffield United. Earl is excellent at talking to young people about his experiences and offering advice and accompanies the campaign to many of his former clubs, and others too, to take part in Education Events and give out prizes to winners of our school competition annually.

Earl has attended well over 20 events with SRtRC and was amongst the first batch of Honorary Patrons of the campaign to be inducted in to the Hall of Fame at Coutts in 2004. After retiring from playing Earl undertook a degree in sports science and has worked on obtaining his coaching badges. He has coached youth teams at Oldham Athletic and Stoke City and for a time worked for Manchester City’s Community Department, the club at which his career began.
